In 2000 I moved to Singapore from the U.S. to work with youth. During my time as a youth worker I realized I needed to become more equipped to deal with the issues facing todays teens. This began my journey in the area of clinical Counselling. I pursued my Masters and began my work in counselling and psychotherapy in 2010.
My Clinical work has been in the area of trauma, attachment injuries, depression and anxiety. I was one of the Founding members of DaySpring Residential Treatment Centre in Singapore, the first of its kind in South-east Asia. DaySpring is a residential treatment program which works with teenage girls who have experienced trauma and abuse. I served as the Clinical Director for 4.5 years before going into private practice.
I am certified in Trauma Focused Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. Please go to the tab above to read more about this therapy. I am dually certified in this modality as a therapist and an equine professional.
I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (Levels 1 & 2), Trauma Focused CBT (TF-CBT), and Choice Theory/Reality Therapy (CTRT). I integrate these modalities to suit the needs of clients. I believe that by looking at our past experiences we can recognize core beliefs and patterns we have developed, and once recognized can move towards a positive change that leads to inner healing and greater resilience. A client is offered to either participate in traditional talk therapy or equine assisted psychotherapy.
I have had the privilege of speaking on several radio shows such as 93.8FM’s “Parenting made easy”, and was the keynote speaker at the Singapore Parenting Congress. A huge honor was being awarded the Singapore International Woman of the Year by the American Women’s Association in 2012, for the pioneering work with adolescents.
I enjoy working with the local, expatriate and corporate communities. I am a registered counsellor (Clinical Member) with the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC) and a Registered Clinical Supervisor.
My practice is located in Singapore.
Equine therapy sessions take place at the Singapore Polo Club.
