Care Corner Singapore Ltd was founded in 1981 amid a climate of changes in the early 1980s — intensifying economic competition in the region and the widening rift between the wealthy and the lower-income, particularly the Chinese blue-collar workers. ​ Seeing them live on a low income with few opportunities for a formal education, our founders held onto a strong belief of empowering them to realise their potential, and become more competent and fulfilled persons. Over the years, Care Corner has evolved into a leading social service agency. With 43 service points across Singapore, we serve children with special learning needs or from disadvantaged backgrounds, youth-at-risk, troubled families, vulnerable seniors and individuals with counselling and mental health needs. Our SG Cares Volunteer Centres (VC) at Tampines, Toa Payoh & Woodlands seek to promote volunteerism by connecting volunteers with key community partners and building volunteer management capabilities. Caregivers Alliance Limited (CAL) is a professional non-profit organisation in Singapore dedicated to meeting the needs of caregivers of persons with mental health issues through education, support networks, crisis support, tailored services and self-care enablement. While there are other organisations providing support to the community affected by mental health issues, only CAL focuses exclusively on supporting caregivers with professional services.

The Caregiving Welfare Association (CWA) was established with the mission to improve the quality of life of elderly through dependable direct services, and to inculcate a generation of responsible and knowledgeable caregivers in an ageing population. Its services broadly fall under these three areas – Elderly Wellness & Social Support, Welfare Support and Education & Awareness. The Caregiving Welfare Association is a non-profit Voluntary Welfare Organisation registered with the Registry of Societies, an Institute of Public Character by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), and a member of the National Council of Social Service.

About COMIT: Community Intervention Team or, COMIT provides assessment, counselling, therapy, case management and psychoeducation support for clients with mental health issues and dementia, including their caregivers. With the assessment, the team develops individualised care plans for clients or link up the clients with other more suitable services. Caregivers will be provided with the appropriate assessment and intervention such as psychoeducation, training, support and support group. COMIT works closely with the Community Engagement Teams, General Practitioners, Polyclinics and other community partners to provide holistic care to clients. It is one of the programmes under the Community Mental Health Masterplan developed by the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC), together with the Ministry of Health (MOH). Cost may be imposed for some of the services. For eligible clients, the service providers will advise the approximate cost of service upon assessment. The Community Intervention Team (COMIT) is embedded in the community to provide holistic services for clients with mental health needs and their caregivers so that they can live and age well at home and in the community. It is an allied health-led team which provides psychosocial therapeutic intervention for clients with mental health needs and supports their caregivers in coping with caregiving for the loved ones. Target Clientele COMIT serves residents age 16 and above who is suspected or diagnosed with mental illness to provide therapy and are residing within these service boundaries: Choa Chu Kang Yew Tee Bukit Batok Woodlands Taman Jurong

Community Outreach Teams The Community Outreach Team (CREST) focuses on raising public awareness of mental health conditions and dementia, promotes early recognition of at-risk individuals, provides emotional support to individuals and their caregivers and links individuals to relevant health and social care services when necessary. The Caregiver Community Outreach Team (CREST-Caregivers) focuses on caregivers who have or are at risk of developing depression, anxiety and burn-out due to their caregiving role. The team increases public awareness of caregiving concerns, promote identification of caregiver needs, supports caregivers in self-care and links caregivers up with support groups and counselling services where needed. Eligibility Criteria: Clients or caregivers identified to be and at-risk of having mental health conditions and dementia.
