This is a 1-day (9 hours) workshop with an assessment component. At the end of the workshop, participants will be equipped with the skills and competency: To identify common signs of mental-emotional distress and its impact on overall wellbeing; To use appropriate attending skills to provide mental-emotional support; To use appropriate strategies to help manage the individual’s distress in crisis and non-crisis situations; To identify common signs that may require professional support and make the relevant referral; To be aware of personal boundaries and self-care when attending to others’ needs.

Pei Yi has been a specialist psychologist with the DAS since August 2012. Her responsibilities include conducting psychological assessments for students who experience difficulties with learning and facilitating the placement of students in learning programmes at the DAS. She holds a Masters Degree in Psychoanalytic Theory from The University of Kent, United Kingdom as well as a Bachelor of Psychology and Clinical Psychologist Degree (UFRJ). Gisela has 23 years of clinical experience and has worked in Brazil, Australia and Singapore. Gisela has been working as a Clinical Psychologist in the private sector in Singapore since 2008 and has joined Alliance in 2010. She has vast experience working with young people from multi -cultural backgrounds, adults and children. Her particular interests include cross cultural psychology, “Third Culture kids”, relationship issues and resilience among others.
