The Department of Psychiatry at Sengkang General Hospital (SKH) supports the mental wellbeing of patients as they work towards full recovery and lasting health. Our team of psychiatrists are intensively trained to understand the emotional and physical complexities of patients. They are qualified to diagnose and treat a full range of psychiatric and mental disorders with competence and care. We are also available to help all patients manage the stress and anxiety that comes with receiving a new diagnosis, coping with a chronic illness or having a surgery. Following an initial assessment of your condition, appropriate therapies or treatment methods will be offered and you will take your first steps towards recovery. In all cases, you can rest assured, our psychiatrists maintain patient confidentiality, providing a safe environment where a patient may feel comforted and supported.

Jocelyn has been in the helping profession for more than 18 years. She began her career as a Rehabilitation Officer at the Singapore Prison Service before joining the Ministry of Education (MOE) as a trained secondary school teacher. She subsequently undertook her Master degree in Educational Psychology (University College London, UK) as a recipient of the MOE postgraduate scholarship. Following that, she served as a Senior Specialist at the Psychological Services Branch of MOE and delivered a range of services to primary and secondary schools. This included providing psycho-educational assessments and consultations to parents, teachers and school leaders to help support children with learning difficulties and special educational needs. Desiring to extend her support to individuals with mental health concerns, Jocelyn subsequently left MOE to complete her doctorate in Clinical Psychology and Clinical Geropsychology at the University of Queensland (Australia) under the Endeavour Postgraduate Award. Aside from direct support of individuals with learning and psychological concerns, Jocelyn’s passion is in caregiver support. Lin’s passion in supporting the community started early in her career and she has devoted the last 15 years, contributing and growing in the helping profession. After several years working as a Senior Researcher, handling regional market research projects in the private setting, she began her career in the helping field, as Child Welfare Officer at the then Ministry of Community Development . She then joined the Ministry of Education (MOE) as a trained primary school teacher. Following the completion of her Masters of Arts specialising in Educational Psychology, she served as a Senior Specialist at the Psychological Services Branch of MOE providing support to primary and secondary schools as well as at the policy level. She provided training and consultation to parents and teachers. She also supported students providing psycho-educational assessments and intervention. She delved further to extend her support to younger children and families when she joined KK Hospital. This three-hour enrichment programme is conducted in a small group setting, where persons with dementia are grouped according to their stage of dementia, spoken language, age and educational profile. Each group size varies and is facilitated by 3 to 4 staff. The session provides a continuum of community care for persons with dementia who have completed sessional therapy outpatient programmes and are discharged for community care. FOW’s cognitive and physically stimulating activities are designed with a social element to foster greater interaction and promote neurogenesis for persons with dementia. FOW complements a full-day dementia daycare programme with shorter hours.

Fei Yue serves the low-income families, children of special needs, couples looking for adoptive children or strengthening their marriages, prison inmates and their families, the active aged to the vulnerable seniors, youth-at-risk and children who face domestic family abuse. We also promote family and community cohesion and bonding through our inter-generational programmes, transnational programmes and active ageing. Fei Yue also has a training arm that saw about 1,400 participants enrolling for our community-based programmes.

Mental Health GP Partnership Programme (MHGPP) The Mental Health General Practitioner (GP) Partnership programme is a national initiative by MOH and AIC to strengthen and improve access to mental health services in Primary Care Aims Provide holistic and accesible care for patients with physical and/or mental conditions Encourage patients with mental health needs to seek early treatment from you as a family doctor Support for GPs in the programme To ensure quality clinical care in the community, you will be supported with: Psychiatric drugs at a lower cost Community mental health services, such as case management and counselling Direct access to specialist(s) assigned by Restructured Hospitals (RHs) to assist you with clinical consults Access to subsidies for mental health conditions under CHAS and CDMP A liaison coordinator will facilitate your patients’ referrals between the clinic, hospital and community support services CME talks and case discussion platforms are also regularly organised to enhance your competencies in the lastest treatment modalities of mental health care

Working with families in order to guide a child to reach his fullest potential has been a long held belief of mine. Children’s Partnership was set up in 2005 with the intent of working together with families. Over the years, it has been a privilege to work with each and every family as we work towards guiding each child in their journey through life. I have also been blessed with a team of incredibly talented and dedicated consultants who are passionate about the work they do with the families. From a professional standpoint, I graduated from Murdoch University with a degree in Psychology. I worked in a special school, where I got to learn about the gifts of each child I taught as I guided them through dance, swimming and job placements, in addition to the day to day academics. During this time, I earned master’s degree in Applied Psychology and started a new phase in my work life where I was involved in the assessment and diagnosis of children at a local hospital.
