Monica has over 15 years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families. She provides psychological assessment and therapy on a broad range of emotional and behavioural difficulties including (but not limited to) depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, adjustment, attachment, parenting difficulties and family issues. She has experience in conducting court- mandated forensic assessments for violent and sexual offenders. She is passionate about improving personal well-being and restoring relationships; as well as effecting meaningful change. She adopts a person-centred, strength-based and collaborative approach in her work. As a therapist, she believes in the adaptive power of the human spirit to heal and that change is possible. Montessori-Based Dementia Programming uses rehabilitation principles including guided repetition, task breakdown, and progressing from simple to complex. Additionally, principles of dementia interventions such as external cue usage and reliance on implicit memory are used. Examples of activities include reading groups and memory games. It was founded and developed by Dr. Cameron Camp at the Myers Research Institute and is the recipient of various awards and recognitions.

Joanna’s passion is working with children with developmental language disorder. She also enjoys working with children and youth with speech disorders, stuttering, social communication difficulties, and with caregivers for young children with delayed language development.
